Runners World Heartbreak Hill Half and Festival
If you are an avid runner or are just getting into the world of competitive running, the Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill Half Marathon and Festival is likely right up your alley. While Sunday’s half marathon is the pinnacle of the festival, it is far from the only thing on offer. Attendees of this event, which takes place on June 6-8, 2014 at Boston College in Newton, MA, will find that there is plenty to see and do. In addition to seminars and live music, there will be a keynote address and even a pre-race dinner with the editors from Runner’s World. Adults are not the only ones who will enjoy this festival. There are special races designed for the younger members of the crowd, as well as special children’s programming. Fido can get in on the fun, too, as Saturday offers the Eukanuba 2-mile dog run. Saturday also offers 5k and 10k races for those who wish to participate.
Registration for the event has already begun, but there is still time. If you register before the expo, the cost is $110, while this increases to $120 if you choose to register at the expo. Packet pickup will be at the expo, and the start location will be at Linden Lane in Newton.
Of course, there are prizes for those who choose to participate in these races along the storied Newton Hills. Finishers medals will be provided to all who finish the half marathon, 5k, or 10k, and 5k and 10k participants will receive a T-shirt, while half marathon participants will be awarded a technical running shirt. If you are really looking for a challenge, you can sign up for the Hat Trick and run all three races. Doing this will get you a technical running shirt, three finishers medals, an event T-shirt, and even a commemorative running hat.
For those seeking a challenge but not quite ready for a half marathon, there is also the Five and Dime, which is a combination of the 5k and 10k races. Finish this race collection and you will receive two finisher’s medals, an event t-shirt, and a commemorative gift.
The Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill Half and Festival is bound to be a great deal of fun for the whole family (even the dog!). If you are looking to participate in this exciting set of races register today at https://www.signmeup.com/site/online-event-registration/93416.
