Coming up soon is the Big Sur International Marathon. The event is the 29^th presentation and will be held April 27, 2014 in Monterrey, California.

While several of the events are sold out, you can still sign up for the 5K, Just Kids 3K or 9-Miler. However, there are some marathon spots still available through the race’s charity partners, so check out the website for additional information. If you would like to get a jump on the 2015 schedule, the 30^th presentation of the Big Sur International Marathon is currently open for registration.

Packets should be picked up at the Monterrey Conference Center Health and Fitness Expo on Friday April 25 or Saturday April 26, from 12pm to 6 pm, and 9am to 6pm, respectively. Racers in the 9-miler will receive an ASICS t-shirt made of technical fabric and is gender specific.

It is suggested that runners not use headsets or iPods while competing in the races. Though doing so will not disqualify you, it will pose a safety risk to yourself and others. Highway 1 will be open on the right lane, so being able to safely hear any on-coming traffic is vital.

In addition to the races themselves, the Big Sur International Marathon has a clinic on Saturday at the Conference Center, as well as a Pasta Party. The Pasta Party will be held at the Monterrey Marriott in the Grand Ballroom, and costs $25. There will be two seatings for the Pasta Party, at 4:30pm and 5:30pm.

After the races, you will be invited to enjoy the Post Race Party Sunday April 27^th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. There are limited tickets available for $25 each. You will also be able to read all about the race in the Monday edition of the Monterey County Harold.
